Social Location Essay Social location, as defined by C Wright Mills, is the corners or place in life that people occupy because of where they are located in a society. Factors such as gender, class, race, and religion are four of the main factors in determining one’s social location.
The intersection of dominant ideologies of race, class, and gender are important in shaping my social location and experiences.
Sociology is the study of people in societies. The social norms shape societies within it. The norms one experiences in their social location make understanding the norms of other locations harder. We best understand our own locations.
